Gerry Wood arrived in Canada from Scotland in 1969 and began working
for a Ford automobile dealership in Calgary. Within 10 years he owned
his very first dealership in Vulcan, Alberta. Then he raised enough
money to buy a large, nearly insolvent dealership in Calgary in 1983.
He renamed it Woodridge Lincoln Mercury and almost immediately brought
it back to financial health. Today, Woodridge Ford Lincoln Ltd.
(re-named in 1999) still operates from the same location at 7337
MacLeod Trail South and is the largest single retailer of Ford and
Lincoln automobiles in the City of Calgary, and with good reason. Over
the past 21 years Woodridge has delivered over 55,000 vehicles to its
customers.
